This week’s question comes from Kimi, who asked the following on our last Klog Chat on pollution and skin care:
I’m curious about the skin care routine when you’re sick…especially if around your nose is red and a bit raw from blowing your nose. I usually just do double cleanse, sheet mask, moisturize, and add some lip mask to keep my lips from chapping. Is there a better way or products I should use while I’m sick?
Dear Kimi,
I think we can all agree getting sick is the worst. Dry/dull skin, a chapped nose, and puffy eyes is not a look we want to trend. If you step outside into the cold winter air—forget it, you might feel like your skin is about to rip off. The good news is, it doesn’t need to be that way! You might not be feeling 100 percent but you can definitely look it. If you’re going to be horizontal, why not take this time to pamper yourself and chill out.
Aside from some R&R, your body and skin is in serious need of hydration. Here are some suggestions to help baby your skin:
Acwell 5.5 Super-Fit Moisture Mask: This mask will calm, nourish and hydrate your skin. Keeping these in the fridge will help depuff skin and help you feel and look more invigorated. Free of parabens, talc, mineral oil, and sulfates, this sheet mask is suitable for all skin types, including sensitive skin.
When you apply something cold to your skin, it constricts blood vessels. This will help the swelling and puffiness go down.
SkinRx Lab MadeCera Face Cream: Strengthen your skin barrier, brighten, and fight premature aging with this multi-tasking cream! Included in the formula is madecassoside, an inflammation-fighting compound naturally occurring in centella asiatica extract. Niacinamide also brightens skin, while adenosine delivers powerful anti-aging and skin-smoothing benefits. Lastly, ceramides wrap skin in heavenly moisture so your skin instantly feels hydrated, plump, and refreshed.
Enature Birch Juice Hydro Sleeping Pack: Let your skin quench its thirst while you sleep with E Nature’s Birch Juice Hydro Sleeping Pack. This rich face cream acts as an after-hours miracle worker thanks to its formula, enriched with 74% birch tree sap, chamomile, and plantain seed extracts to transform your complexion while you sleep. Wake up to restored, rejuvenated skin!
Getting a humidifier will be very helpful as well—it will help restore the moisture in your skin and prevent dehydration.
And finally, lay down and make sure to rest up and drink plenty of fluids.
Hopefully the above has been helpful and we look forward to your speedy recovery!
