From Bubble Toners to Products With Probiotics, These are the Latest K-Beauty Trends to Know About if You Want Glowing Skin

What skin care products are currently flying off the shelves in Korea? Here, one writer based in Seoul shares the K-beauty trends that are heating up as the weather cools down.

Probiotics

Driven by demand for products for sensitive and dry skin, Korean skin care companies are increasingly interested in probiotics as a key ingredient, especially considering a recent study found that probiotics help strengthen the skin barrier.
You can find probiotics in the Innisfree Derma Formula Green Tea Probiotics Cream that’s formulated to keep skin hydrated for 48 hours, and the Soon+ Balancing Water which also contains a high concentration of ceramide.

Single-Ingredient Products

As consumers become more focused on ingredients themselves, the demand for pure and single-ingredient products is increasing.
Dewytree has launched a range of sheet masks that are formulated with 100% of one ingredient. The line-up includes cica, birch, hibiscus, and qunice-focused sheets.
Another brand following the trend is Tirtir with its Rosemary One Essence. It contains 100% Jeju rosemary extract which is a source of antioxidants and is also calming and moisturizing.

Bubble Toners

Bubble toners are similar to the consistency of foaming cleansers, but are safe for sensitive skin. The unique formulations help the toner absorb better and avoid the need to pat or swipe on product. The goal is to help minimize any potential irritation.
We like the Nacific Glow Intensive Bubble Toner that’s hydrating and brightens skin, and the Dr. G Sensius Bubble Toner that has a low pH and is formulated for sensitive skin.

Powerful Essences

According to a recent survey, Korean women buy more essences than lotions or emulsions. One of the reasons why we love a good bottle of essence is that they are lightweight but can still be very effective for hydrating and creating glowing skin with only two to three drops.
The Goodal Houttuynia Cordata Calming Essence, for example, contains 97.5% houttuynia cordata extract, an herb that soothes irritated skin. Then the Gilla 8 Dual Super Power Radiance Essence Booster is both water- and oil-based and is great for dry skin types.
