Need an afternoon pick me up? Mists are the way to go. Find out which ones are the best for your skin type!
With how hot’s it’s been this summer in NYC, mists have been a must. But they’re also must-haves for any time of year, as they’re the perfect travel companion that freshen up your makeup and hydrate your skin at the same time. I’ve always been intrigued by the concept of face mists, but most of the ones I’ve tried left my face feeling even drier than before. Soon, I realized that the problem was that I wasn’t choosing those with the right ingredients for my skin.
It’s always important to take into consideration your skin type when looking for a new skin care product, so you can find the one that will work for your skin needs. With all of the different mists on the market, it can be very confusing to choose the right one. To help you choose the right mist, I’ve compiled a list of the best face mist for each skin type.
Oily & Combination Skin
If you have oily or combination skin, it’s likely you’re looking for a mist that will keep the shine at bay. The Missha First Treatment Essence Mist will do just that. A mist form of the classic Missha Time Revolution First Treatment Essence Intensive Moist, this bottle comes in two convenient sizes. And the upgraded formula contains over 90% fermented yeast extract from Himalayan purple barley to effectively plump skin, refine texture, and reduce pigmentation. If you’re looking to plumper, more hydrated skin, then this mist is the perfect option.
Dry & Aging Skin
For dry skin, you’ll want to reach for mists rich in moisture-binding ingredients like ceramides and humectants, as they help pump moisture into the skin and lock it in. The Goodal Moisture Barrier Rich Mist is one of my favorites. It has a milky consistency and an ingredient list packed with milk lipids. The outermost layer of our skin is protected by a thin layer of film known as the moisture barrier. This barrier is made up of a combination of lipids like cholesterol, ceramides and fatty acids. When using this mist, you’re feeding the skin exactly what it craves, which helps strengthen that barrier and keeps moisture from escaping.
Sensitive & Acne-Prone Skin
For sensitive and acne-prone skin, it’s all about choosing face mists that hydrate skin with as few irritating ingredients as possible. Look for ingredients like tea tree or Centella asiatica, as these anti-inflammatory and antibacterial ingredients soothe and nourish the skin while fighting acne-causing bacteria.
The Missha Near Skin Simple Therapy Mist Toner is a good choice for those with super sensitive skin. It boasts a fragrance free formula and contains only 9 ingredients to calm and hydrate the skin. It is made with a blend of seaweed, dill and sugarcane extracts that work to clarify and soothe the skin by calming any redness and irritation. You can use this as a toner in the morning and then pop it in your bag to freshen up throughout the day.
If you’re suffering from inflamed acne, try the Benton Honest TT Mist, which is made with 85% tea tree water and leaf extract along with aloe vera to soothe inflammation. Tea tree is known to be a natural and effective warrior against acne, and it’ll help you get rid of breakouts faster without drying out your skin. Although this mist works to heal acne, you can also use it several times a day to soothe and hydrate your skin.
Bottom Line:
If you haven’t had any luck with finding a mist that works for you, hopefully this lineup will help you to find the one. When purchasing any skin care product, keep your skin type in mind to experience the most successful relationship with a new product.
