Are you obsessed with Missha? That makes the two of us.
Everything that’s come out of their brand (especially their Time Revolution line) has been solid. And I can tell from your reviews of the products that you can’t get enough of them either.
When I heard that Missha recently launched the Time Revolution Clear Toner, their very first toner for the line, my first thought was, “What took so dang long?!” Second thought: “Woohoo!”
I hate to have preconceived notions about a product before testing, but so much goodness has come from this line for my own skin, it was hard not to be excited. And since I’ve been using it, it’s done nothing but deliver.
All about the Clear Toner
What it does: Its primary focus is to remove excess debris and hydrate — all of which preps the skin for better skin care product absorption. More background on Korean toners and how they work here.
How you use it: Some Korean toners are just tapped and absorbed into the skin, but this one is specifically a wipe-off type, meaning you sprinkle some of the product onto a cotton round or ball and swipe across the face and neck to remove the excess debris. Bonus points if you see a brown stain on the cotton pad afterwards. That means it’s picking up the dirt.
As you can see, it picks up remaining traces of grime even after double cleansing.
Double-cleanse, and Clear Toner rushes to the rescue to take away remaining dirt. Yay!
Thoughts on packaging: Missha’s Time Revolution First Treatment Essence comes in this gorgeous glass bottle. It sits pretty on my vanity.
I opened up the Missha Time Revolution Clear Toner to see that it’s made of plastic. And I breathed a sigh of relief.
Why? As much as the glass bottle is gorgeous and feels “luxurious,” I’m all about practical products that are really comfortable to use. I like it when things are more portable, and aren’t likely to shatter if they take a dive from my bathroom counter (I’m kind of clumsy).
Shout-out to Vickie, my friend who told me she recently broke her precious Time Revolution Essence bottle. You won’t have any worries with the Clear Toner, Vickie!
All about ingredients
(Don’t worry. It looks intimidating, but it’s not once you get into it. I’ll help you break down the highlights…)
Water, Saccharomyces Ferment, Propanediol, Glycerin, Pentylene Glycol, Piper Methysticum Leaf/Root/Stem Extract, Camellia Oleifera Seed Extract, Gaultheria Procumbens (Wintergreen) Leaf Extract, Ulmus Davidiana Root Extract, Amaranthus Caudatus Seed Extract, Phellodendron Amurense Bark Extract, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Sodium Hyaluronate, Betaine, Butylene Glycol, Sodium Citrate, Cellulose Gum, Ethylhexylglycerin, Citric Acid, Lactic Acid, Disodium EDTA, 1,2-Hexanediol, Bifida Ferment Lysate, Malic Acid, Glucose, Acetic Acid, Phenoxyethanol, Potassium Sorbate.
Might I say, what a freakin’ amazing line-up of ingredients!
Saccharomyces ferment. First off, fermented ingredients. They’ve been getting lots of buzz as of late, and for good reason. They’re the Korean answer to the demand for organic ingredients. Fermentation is a natural, not synthetic, process. It’s the same tried-and-true method that cures and preserves kimchi, but instead of being used for food, it’s used for botanic elements for your skin.
What makes the Time Revolution line so special is its fermented yeast extract. It works to promote the skin’s natural 28-day surface renewal process, which means softer and brighter skin. Psst, and it’s number 2 on the ingredient list, which means this superstar is one of the main ingredients in this formula!
Lactic and Malic Acid To help deep cleanse and help remove excess debris, in this formula they’ve got alpha hydroxy ingredients such as lactic acid and malic acid to very gently slough off dead skin. They kind of make for a mini exfoliating session every morning. Pretty convenient, eh?
Citric acid This is the ingredient most commonly used to reset pH balance and return skin to its naturally, slightly acidic state after using an alkaline cleanser. It not only removes dead skin cells sitting on top of your skin, but also goes deep down into your pores to clean out sebum, dirt, and sweat that might be clogging your skin and contributing to blackheads, breakouts, and other blemishes.
Who do I recommend this product for? If you have normal, oily, dry, or even sensitive skin, you can try this toner. There’s no fragrance and no irritants, so it’s good even for most people with sensitive skin. Especially those of you who don’t have time for exfoliating on a regular basis or want to focus on evening skin tone can benefit.
All about them feels!
I love the way my skin feels after using this toner: It feels clear and hydrated — no tight and dry feeling, which can indicate your skin is being harmed by stripping away natural oils that protect you.
The Clear Toner definitely feels different from the Time Revolution First Treatment Essence. The essence gives me a slight sticky sensation after I apply it. Of course, they have different functions (essence further treats skin after toner preps it), which accounts for their different consistencies, and they feel great when they work in tandem.
So there you have it, the Missha Time Revolution Clear Toner– another reason to love the Time Revolution line.
