“Resveratrol is a potent antioxidant that can be found in the skin of grapes,” says Dr. Chimento. “When applied topically, resveratrol can protect the skin from free radicals and ensure that the skin barrier stays hydrated and healthy. It also neutralizes toxic molecules from things like cigarette smoke and UV rays that cause premature aging.”
Like damask rose, resveratrol boasts anti-inflammatory properties and can help fight bacteria that cause acne. Topical applications can also help give skin a smoother and more even-toned appearance, especially when used with exfoliating ingredients, such as lactic acid, salicylic acid, or glycolic acid.
