Beauty Diaries: A 37-Year-Old, COSRX-Obsessed Attorney’s $407 Routine

How much does your daily beauty routine cost? Welcome to The Klog Beauty Diaries. Inspired by Refinery29’s Money Diaries, we thought it would be fun to recap a day in the life of people with different occupations and highlight their beauty routines. In this Klog beauty diary, a 37-year-old attorney from Springfield, Missouri shares her obsession with COSRX products and her “melt-proof” makeup routine.

Occupation: Attorney
Industry: Legal Aid
Age: 37
Location: Springfield, MO
7:35am – I time my mornings down to the minute so I can sleep as late as possible! I wash my hair with Paul Mitchell Awapuhi Shampoo ($10.50) and condition with the brand’s Super Strong Conditioner ($14). My skin gets really oily during the day so in the mornings I wash it with the Drunk Elephant Juju Bar ($28).
7:45am – I’m obsessed with COSRX and everything they make. If ever my skin is breaking out, I know COSRX will rescue it! In the mornings I use the brand’s One Step Original Clear Pads ($19) to keep me from getting too oily, too soon. I follow it up with Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer ($54). It’s ridiculously expensive but you don’t have to use very much.
7:50am – I try to keep my makeup melt-proof and idiot-proof. I use the tiniest amount of Bare Minerals Prime Time Eyelid Primer ($19) followed by some combination of shadows from Tarte’s Tartelette in Bloom Clay Palette ($39) and Sephora Collection eyeliner ($12). I searched high and low for the best foundation for oily skin and gigantic pores and the best I’ve found is Rimmel Stay Matte Liquid Mousse Foundation ($5). It’s incredible! For under my eyes I use Glossier Stretch Concealer ($18) and mascara is Physician’s Formula Argan Wear Mascara ($10) which is perfect for sensitive eyes. My powder is Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder ($38) and blush is Sephora Collection Blush in So Shy ($7). I’m really into lipsticks lately because they make me feel like a grown-up. My favorite is Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Blushing Nude ($5).
12:00pm – My face starts melting around this time with running around court and meetings so I touch up with Fenty Beauty Invisimatte Blotting Paper ($16) and Gloss Bomb ($18).
5:00pm – Some women are excited to take off their bras when they get home, but I’m most excited to take off my makeup! I take the grime off with Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water ($8) which is the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser of makeup removers. Then I do a deep clean with COSRX Salicylic Acid Daily Cleanser ($11) which makes your skin feel clean but not tight. COSRX One Step Moisture Up Pads ($19) do the same thing.
7:00pm – I like to wind down early. Sleep is the best! I use COSRX Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence ($19) because it cures all that ails you: redness, acne, dry skin…everything! When that soaks in I use the brand’s Ultimate Nourishing Rice Overnight Spa Mask ($16) because my skin will be so soft and clear in the mornings! Once in a while I use The Ordinary Marula Oil ($10) which is surprisingly good for oily skin.
9:00pm – Every night I try to fall asleep to a black and white movie. I find it relaxing. I also use Glossier’s Balm Dotdom in Coconut ($12) before bed.
Total Skin Care: $146
Total Hair and Body: $24.50
Total Makeup: $237
Grand total: $407.50
