Klog Chat: What’s the Biggest Skin Care Question You Want to Ask a Derm?

Welcome to Klog Chat, a series where we ask you to tell us how you do skin care and beauty. Here, we want you to share your biggest skin care questions. What are you most confused about? Let us know below and we’ll give you an answer straight from a derm.

Hello, it’s Marissa! The world of skin care can be incredibly confusing. Just when you think you know what you’re doing, you learn something new that throws your entire world for a loop. What can and can’t you mix with vitamin C? What’s an active ingredient? What’s pH and why does it matter? How do you layer your products based on consistency? Help!
We get it. With a boatload of jargon and terminology, not to mention new products and ingredients being dropped left and right, the beauty world can be overwhelming on its best days and down right scary on its worst. I mean, it’s hard enough trying to maintain good skin, so the products you’re using should make your life simpler, not harder. Right?
A couple years ago, I used to fall asleep in my makeup every single night, so you can imagine what a drastic step it was for me to start using a cleanser and a moisturizer every day. In six months I was doing an 8-step routine every night and obsessively reading everything I could about acids. But even now, it still feels like there are things I don’t know.
So how do you get to the bottom of it all? It’s simple: Ask an expert. Dermatologists are medical experts that can help diagnose and treat your skin concerns. If you’ve ever had persistent cystic acne or a mole or sunspot that just mysteriously appeared, then it’s likely you’ve been to a derm’s office before. But of course, we understand that not everyone has easy access to that kind of resource, even if they have the questions. So we’re here to do it for you! Here at the Klog, we’re all for a great skin care education. We have an glossary devoted to answering your ingredient questions, and have entire articles devoted to breaking down confusing terminology like ‘non-comedogenic‘. So list your most perplexing questions down below and we promise to answer them with info straight from a dermatologist.
