What’s the best short K-beauty routine when you can’t afford the full 10 step? Welcome to Dear Soko, a series dedicated to answering your biggest skin care questions with advice from Soko Glam’s skin experts. Whether you’re confused about specific ingredients or what you need to do to achieve healthier skin overall, these experts are here to guide you.
This week’s question comes from John, who has asked the following on our last Dear Soko about the difference between a morning and nighttime routine:
“If I cant afford the Korean 10 step routine, what is the simplest routine and what Korean products would you recommend that will be effective for my pigmented skin?”
Dear John,
We totally get it!
Jumping into a 10 Step is not only a time commitment, it’s also a financial commitment! But don’t let financial restrictions get in the way of self-care and taking time for yourself. With that said, it needn’t be expensive. Starting off slow won’t burn as bad, and a couple of key products with the focus on skin brightening ingredients will be the way to go.

My favorite ingredients for fading hyper pigmentation are snail mucin, niacinamide, licorice extract, and EGF. OH! And let’s not forget about vitamin C. Many of these ingredients help promote skin cell regeneration, which means shedding dull skin cells and replacing them with healthier brighter ones.
So, please take my hand and we’ll slow dance into this together. Your skin will be so bright, your friends will need sunglasses around you.
For your short, sweet and budget conscious routine, please consider the following items:
COSRX Triple C Lightning Liquid (PM routine only)
Missha Waterproof Sun Milk SPF 50+/PA+++
In short, if your Mint app isn’t giving you much of a wiggle room, I would focus on ingredients and your foundational 5-Step, or short K-beauty routine. Please remember your skin journey is uniquely your own, and how you approach it is entirely up to you—and we’re here to help guide you to the best version of yourself.
Here Always,
Your Skin Expert
