7 Character Collaborations That You Need In Your K-beauty Life

By July 15, 2016

Korean beauty products are often worth every penny because of their adorable packaging. Now they’ve simply made it even easier to splurge on their goods because many brands have been rolling out character-themed skincare and makeup products! And we’re not talking about yawn-inducing Hello Kitty character collaborations that we’ve already seen plenty of times before. From popular messenger emoticons to the cutest characters that make up our pop culture, here are 7 squeal-worthy character collaborations you will need in your K-beauty life.

Missha x Minions

Although Missha is known more for their “serious” skincare, from the Time Revolution First Treatment Essence to their pore perfecting Perfect Cover BB cream, it looks like these days they’re betting big on cute illustrations! After the success with the Line Friends collaboration earlier this year, Missha allowed Minions to invade their cushion compacts and lip crayons!

The Faceshop x Kakao Friends

When The Faceshop teamed up with the super popular messenger app, Kakao, everyone squealed with excitement. It’s hard to see a Kakao message without seeing one of these characters pop up. Now, you can see Frodo, Neo and the rest of the crew in your skin care routine – from sunscreens to hand creams!

Holika Holika x Gudetama

Holika Holika may have won the character-collaboration jackpot by partnering up with an adorable egg-shaped character called Gudetama. Even if you’re not familiar with this Sanrio character, you’ll still want his lazy, slippery yellow body on your cushion compacts, sheet masks and more. And, if you’re interested in the Gudetama cushion compacts, beauty Youtuber Liah Yoo gives you an in-depth review – just watch the featured video on top.

VDL x Pantone

While VDL briefly flirted with a Line Friends collaboration, they went the sleek and chic route by partnering up with Pantone to produce some really pretty dual toned packaging with Rose Quartz and Serenity, the two Pantone colors of the year. We think this was possibly a step up from the Line Friends partnership, because Pantone fits perfectly with VDL’s mission to be a color cosmetics haven for beauty artists.

Skinfood x Snoopy

Walk down memory lane with Skinfood’s Snoopy and Friends collaboration. Even though this collaboration has been available since last December, we all know that this classic character will never go out of style.

Etude House x Angry Birds

Have you seen this hilarious Etude House x Angry Birds collaboration for their innovative Tint My Brow Gel? While Angry Birds is a surprising move considering Etude House’s typical girly aesthetic, it makes perfect sense considering what your brows look like with the Tint My Brow Gel on. It’s hilarious and spot-on.

Etude House x Finding Dory

Latest update: And we found Dory, on Etude House packaging!

These oh-so-adorable limited edition collaborations don’t stick around for long and unfortunately many of them don’t even make it stateside. What’s your favorite character collaboration? What collaboration would you want to see soon?
