The Review: Clio’s New Pen Liner

If you’ve been with me since the beginning, you know that the Clio Waterproof Pen Liner was one of my first curations to the site. In my opinion, it’s the holy grail of liquid liners thanks to its easy-to-use felt tip and long lasting, intense color. Once a Bobbi Brown Gel pot fanatic (for literally a decade), the Clio became a game changer for me and to this day I don’t leave the house without it on. After you guys tried it, the rave reviews poured in.

Well, almost all rave. There were a few people here and there that mentioned the ink would dry out fast and that it wasn’t as black as they’d like it. For those who felt like it needed some improvements (and even for those who gave it 5/5 stars and thought it was perfect just the way it is), I have some good news for you – Clio made a 2014 update to the Clio Waterproof Pen liner!

After using this pen liner for the past month there are two things that I have noticed.

1. Packaging

When I say packaging, I’m not just talking about it’s sleek new look. This upgraded design has an airtight “smart” cap, which helps keep the felt pen moist and less likely to dry out. The one I’ve been using for a month now is nowhere as dried out as other eyeliners I’ve tried! For peace of mind, rotate the cap until you hear it click into place.

2. Formula

Can you see the difference? The line I marked on the bottom is the new Clio Waterproof Pen Liner. It’s definitely darker and more intense than the original Clio. I think the credit goes to their new formula and their innovative ink tank storage design they added. Don’t know how the ink tank storage contraption thing works, but it seems to get the job done!
