Peel-Off Lip Stain Pays Off Big

Here’s a not-so-secret secret: I’m really lazy. Like: really lazy.

While I’ve always had a multi-step skin regimen that I’ve followed faithfully (instilled in me by my mother ever since she gave me my first bottle of Oil of Olay at age 5), makeup has always eluded me. A bit of BB cream, slap those brows on, eyeliner, blush if I remember it, and I’m out the door.

Lip stains area lazy person’s best friend. My tried and true was once the much praised Yves Saint Laurent Vernis À Lèvres Glossy Stain. Yes, the $36 much praised Yves Saint Laurent Vernis À Lèvres Glossy Stain.

While the YSL stain boasts an amazing spectrum of color choices, it still required reapplication at least every couple hours.

Enter Berrisom’s Oops My Lip Tint.

It doesn’t smudge, it’s waterproof, I can eat, I can drink, I can use a napkin. All without worry.

After getting tipped off by Elle’s write-up, I immediately headed to Amazon to order myself a tube in the Pure Pink shade.

Six to eight days later, my tube arrived and I found myself standing in front of my mirror, meticulously applying the tint to my lips. Remember, Oops My Lip Tint acts similarly to a temporary tattoo—it will stain your lips and skin and stain it well. Make sure to wipe off any excess product while it’s still freshly applied.

The stain out of the tube is thick and gel-like—this is totally okay. Layering it thickly will ensure an easier removal process later on. Avoid pursing your lips during this dry time. And don’t be terrified at how bright the stain looks at first—it’ll transform into something very wearable after the final step in the process.

Also, if you’re adverse to strange smelling products, the Elmer’s glue-scented Berisom lipstain isn’t for you. (I also immediately noticed that the lipstain is strangely salty should you get any of it in your mouth. So, uh, try very hard to not get it in your mouth.)

After 5-10 minutes—whenever it’s dry to the touch—it’s time to peel off the stain. The best method I’ve found is to just stretch the corners of my mouth outwards (some may call this “smiling”) and the stain will naturally start to peel away from your lips. Now just grab a corner and peel gently away.

Follow it up with a quick layer of lip balm and you’re ready for at least 12 hours of natural-looking color.

All that for around $7.50? Even this lazy, YSL-loyal girl is sold.
