I Discovered the Wonders of Korean Exfoliating Mitts and My Skin Has Never Been Smoother

Korean exfoliating mitt review

Here, one beauty junkie spills on the secret to keeping the skin on your body soft and silky all winter long –  and it only costs $1.

I’ve graduated from St. Ives face and body scrubs to chemical exfoliants and gentle natural polishes with ingredients like coffee grounds and brown sugar, but I have yet to find anything that leaves my skin as baby soft as a Korean exfoliating mitt. I am convinced at this point that nothing else out there truly gets the job done.
I was first introduced to the product while receiving a Korean body scrub treatment at SoJo Spa Club, a Korean-inspired day club in New Jersey. The second the aesthetician began to scrub me down, I instantly recognized a familiar touch. It reminded me of my experience in the hammam spas in Marrakesh, Morocco. Moroccan women, like Korean women, really value their traditional beauty rituals, as well as spa time. These women have been carving out time for self-care before it became a popular buzzword here in the states.

Both mitts – which initially feel like sandpaper on the skin- do a phenomenal job at removing dead skin cells, leaving skin soft, supple, and flake-free. I was so impressed at how smooth my skin felt afterwards, that I had to know exactly what kind of mitt my aesthetician was using. She explained that the mitts are made from pure viscose fibers and that I could purchase one of my own at the spa for only three bucks.
Since the material so effective and can be a bit harsh on skin, I was recommended to use it no more than once a week – twice at most – and to always use it on wet skin to minimize chance of irritation. My aesthetician also made sure to caution against using it on my face since the mitts are designed to be used on thicker skin like that on the body, not on delicate, easily sensitized areas like the face.

I’ve since stocked up on the mitts on Amazon where you can find four-packs for less than $4 – it goes to show that skin care does not need to come at a high price tag!
Want to shed some dry winter skin but can’t afford to spend $100 or more at a spa? I highly recommend ordering yourself a bunch of these. Heck, I’d even consider these as stocking stuffers – they’ll thank you later!
