The Korean Fashion Designer Influencers Love

Seoul has become something of a destination for the international style seeker—which, as you know, in Instagram times translate to influencers. Amongst new trends seen on the city’s streets to the best of Seoul Fashion Week, there is one name that has crossed oceans and won the heart (and closet!) of America’s favorite fashion influencers: Lie Sang Bong.

An icon of Korean fashion, Lie Sang Bong has been celebrities’ sweetheart for over four years, being the name behind gorgeous looks from Lady Gaga and Rihanna to Zendaya. Now, his avant-garde style that connects South Korean cultural heritage to the cosmopolitan atmosphere has been seen on the feeds of some of America’s favorite fashion Instagrammers.
Erica Choi (@eggcanvas), Natalie and Dylana Suarez (@natalieoffduty, @dylanasuarez), Samantha Angelo (@theeyetravels), Pari Ehsan (@paridust), and Lily Montasser (@thedemeler) have known and worn the stylist’s creations for some time now, helping spread the word on K-fashion to the Western. For this reason, Sang Bong decided to do something different for his Spring Summer 2017 collection: He invited his friends and digital influencers to add their unique aesthetic and connection to the brand.

The result is a reinvention and take on South Korean traditions, named chaekgado, seen in a mix of structural shapes and dimensions, graphic and colorful paintings—featuring, of course, his Instagram muses. They also incorporated in the series sentimental pieces, such as favorite objects and works of literature that might be placed on their own bookshelves or chaekgado.
