Get Unready With Kim Chi from RuPaul’s Drag Race and Charlotte Cho

If you’re a lover of K-beauty and all things Kim Chi (like I am), then you’re going to absolutely love this Get Unready with Kim Chi video.

Kim Chi is a style icon in the world of Drag. A finalist in season eight of RuPaul’s Drag Race, this fierce diva always tears up the runway with highly conceptual and stunningly beautiful aesthetic creations.

But what does a Drag Superstar do to transform into an off-duty diva? Kim Chi teamed up with our very own Charlotte Cho to share her getting unready routine.

We’ve broken it down step by step:
Prep work:
Before she delved into K-beauty Kim Chi would just take off her make up, dab on some moisturizer and call it a night. Now that she’s switched to her current routine she’s been seeing amazing results and getting lots of compliments on her dewy, glowing complexion.
When you look as fabulous as Kim Chi you have to prep a little before you dive into makeup removal. First, off with the lashes. Then she uses tape to gently lift off any eye glitter. Glitter can be awesome and fun to play around with different looks, but if you’re using chunky craft glitter be extra careful and make sure to get every little speck off!
Step One: Oil Cleanser
Now we’re getting into the nitty gritty, starting out with Banila Co Clean it Zero Resveratrol. Kim Chi loves this product because it “melts everything away and is really hydrating.” She also uses just about the craziest amount you’ve ever seen in one person’s hand to make sure she can get every little bit of makeup off. She mentions that since so much makeup is coming off, to save a towel she usually just jumps straight into the shower.
Step Two: Water Cleanser
For the next cleanse, Kim Chi likes to use Klavuu Pearlsation Revitalizing Facial Cleansing Foam. This is, of course, to make sure she gets all the leftover bits of glue and powder so her face is thoroughly cleansed. Charlotte says that the amount of time you take to put on your makeup should be about the same amount of time you spend taking it off—better skin equals better looking makeup!
Step Three: Exfoliator
Next up is the go-to favorite double-sided exfoliator, the Neogen Bio-Peel Gauze Peeling Lemon. According to Kim Chi “[Charlotte] hooked it up and it’s been a game changer…It smells good and is so easy to use.” Fun hack alert: You can use this not only on your face, but also other dry skin prone areas like your elbows and feet!
Step Four: Toner
And of course Kim Chi loves the Son and Park Beauty Water, which Charlotte herself uses every day. This amazing product both tones and removes makeup, making it a must-have.
Step Five: Sheek Mask
Kim Chi says this is one of her favorite parts and let’s face it—who doesn’t love this step. There are so many options out there and fun products to try! The Manefit Natural Gift Green Tea Pore Care Sheet Mask that she and Charlotte demo is definitely one to make a staple in your routine. For a great sheet mask hack, make sure to use the excess essence on other parts of your body! Or use the leftover mask on your neck to get two treatments in one.
Step Six: Essence
Next they pat on Hanskin Hyaluron Essence. Charlotte says patting is a great way to get product on your face without tugging or pulling on your skin.
Step Seven: Eye Cream
This is Kim Chi’s absolute favorite step, she says, especially after a long day of wearing heavy eye makeup. To soothe her eyes she uses the Missha Misa Cho Bo Yang Eye Cream. She claims this really helped heal the scabs around her eyes caused by using a lot of fake lashes and glue.
Step Eight: Serum
Then on to serum! Kim Chi and Charlotte go for the CosRX Triple C Lightening Liquid, which according to Kim Chi gives her all the awesome vitamin C, tingly goodness. Also, since it has 20.5% vitamin C in it, you know you’re getting a great dose of exfoliation.
Step Nine: Moisturizer
Last, but certainly not least, the Hanskin Bio Origin the Cream. Charlotte says the most important part of putting on a moisturizer at the very end is to “lock in all of those products you just put on your face.” Finally after the last step Kim Chi says, “I feel like my skin can breathe again!” We all know the feeling and there really isn’t anything better at the end of a long day.
So there you have it! The ultimate getting unready transformation from the diva herself.
