Son Dae Sik is the celebrity makeup artist that co-created the rising Son & Park beauty brand after spending over 15 years in Korea amassing a celebrity clientele. Now he’s gaining global credibility as the lead MUA for several Sephora campaigns and has plans to make a special appearance at KCON in Los Angeles at the end of July. You can also find his hit product, the Beauty Water, available now at Sephora and Soko Glam. The Klog was delighted to meet with Son in Seoul to get an expert’s Soko Secret.
Fashion
My mother was very fashionable and owned her own fashion boutique. She also influenced my unique sense of style. It’s never fun to be like everyone else.
Inspiration
I was inspired to create Beauty Water based on my own skin concerns. I have extremely sensitive skin, so it limits me from using a lot of skincare products out there. At night, I use the Beauty Water to hydrate the areas of my skin that are very dry and sometimes I mix it together with other skincare products. I can’t live without it.
Skincare
When I cleanse my face, I mix natural grains such as red bean powder. Since they’re so fine, they gently exfoliate your face without much irritation. You got to try it because red bean actually removes the toughest makeup grease and it has a lot of skin benefitting ingredients because it’s an antioxidant.
Exfoliation and essence sheet masks are essential. When prepping for special occasions, it’s a no brainer to gently exfoliate and use a sheet mask prior to applying makeup.
The Secret
My secret beauty tip is to apply skincare products infused with pearl-based ingredients to diffuse imperfections and create a glowing, bright complexion.
