Charlotte Cho’s Complete 10-Step Skin Care Routine

By May 17, 2017

Finally, here is Charlotte Cho’s skincare routine! From creating the best skin care products with top Korean brands and testing thousands of products for curation, Charlotte is the number one expert when it comes to skin care. Despite being the ambassador for the 10-step routine, she has a carefree approach to beauty that makes skin care fun and easy to follow!

“When I introduced the concept of the 10-step in 2012, it really wasn’t about using all 10 products morning and night. Everyone’s busy. It’s about the products out there that you could incorporate into your routine,” says Charlotte. “I know that a lot of people see results when they have an extensive skin care routine because there’s a lot of science behind the double cleanse and layering products. But it doesn’t have to be for everyone.”

Traveling constantly and trying out so many products can take a toll on your skin. Hormonal acne doesn’t help, either. But as the co-founder of Soko Glam and editor-in-chief of The Klog, Charlotte has her routine down to a science that truly works for her skin. From sheet masks to essence mists, she uses just the right products for a quick and easy everyday skin care routine. Here are her current go-to products!

Enature Moringa Cleansing Balm

“I love balm-type oil cleansers, and this one is a winner. It smells amazing and it also has moringa in it, which is a purifying ingredient. When I first tried it, I really liked the way it removed all my makeup and made my skin feel really clean and soft without any tightness.”

Neogen Real Fresh Green Tea Cleansing Stick

“This is something I had so much fun making. It has real green tea leaves embedded in the formula so it has a nice exfoliating effect. I also really like that it has a low pH. The other cleansing stick I used to use all the time had a high pH, and so it left my skin feeling dry and tight. Since fine lines are a big concern for me right now, I’m trying to make sure that everything I use is low pH.

“I know some people are confused as to whether they should double cleanse in the morning. I personally like to do it because my skin produces oil at night and I also put on a lot of skin care products before bed. I just wanna start off with a clean slate in the morning!”

Son & Park Beauty Water

“I’ve loved this for many years now. I found out about Beauty Water at a photoshoot in Seoul, where both the Vogue beauty editor and the makeup artist on set raved about it. I just fell in love with Beauty Water because I can use it so many different ways, like to remove my makeup and to tone my skin. It’s like a micellar water with toning benefits. It has papaya extracts to gently exfoliate my skin, and it also smells amazing—very light, refreshing, and natural. Since it has a low pH, my skin feels super clean after I use it without feeling tight.”

Neogen Bio-Peel Gauze Peeling Green Tea

“This exfoliator is just so easy to use and effective. It makes my makeup look better! It’s textured on one side and soft on the other. It not only smells amazing but it’s also such a nice way to exfoliate physically and chemically because it has lactic acid, glycolic acid, and antioxidants from green tea. My skin is so much brighter after I use this, and I like how it’s also good for sensitive skin because sometimes certain exfoliators can make my skin feel raw.”

Manefit Natural Gift Green Tea Pore Care Sheet Mask

“Sheet masks are an amazing way to intensely hydrate your skin, and they’re so soothing and calming. I love how plump and smooth your skin looks right after a sheet mask. There’s no better feeling. And honestly, if you’ve tried the 7-Day Sheet Mask Challenge that Soko Glam has talked about, then you will see results. After I do the 7-Day Challenge, I usually get 2-3 compliments on how glowing and dewy my skin looks. People in Korea sheet mask all the time and have a whole drawer filled with masks. They always have a stash, ready to go. I have a stash in my fridge because that way, it’s just so cooling and refreshing when you put it on.

“I had such a blast making this sheet mask. It was my first time making a product and they just let me choose all the ingredients. People might think that the green tea specks are kind of weird, but for me, it shows me that it’s made with really good ingredients.”

Missha First Treatment Essence Mist

“If you sheet mask, you really don’t have to have a separate essence step because you just put on a mask filled with essence. So you can technically skip the essence step. But I’ve been raving about this Missha essence mist for years and I still use it regularly. I love the consistency and the fact that it’s a spray because it’s so easy to apply. You just spray and tap into your skin.”

Neogen H2 Dermadeca Serum Spray

“This is another serum I’ve been using pretty regularly. I love how it comes in a really fine mist. I use it sometimes as a regular face mist but I also use it during the day because it’s very lightweight. I alternate between this and the Missha essence mist. I’m just obsessed with products that come in cans and spray out in a fine mist because they’re just so easy to use.”

Cosrx Triple C Lightning Liquid

“I use this religiously. The reason why I created this product is because I dealt with a lot of hormonal acne along my chin. It took me about eight months to figure out how to control my hormonal acne but even then, the acne scars remained. I also have a little bit of pigmentation on my chin, jawline, and also along my cheeks. If you don’t use a pure vitamin C treatment often, I’d recommend mixing this in with your moisturizer before putting it on your skin. I like to get some of the serum on my hand and dab it on areas where I need it or just apply it directly on my skin.”

Erborian Seve de Bamboo Eye Matte

“Since the weather has been getting warmer, I’ve been treating my eye area with a very lightweight eye cream. This eye cream comes in a super travel-friendly pump, so it’s very hygienic. I use just a little bit and tap it along the orbital bone. Since I make a lot of facial expressions when I talk, I’m noticing more and more crow’s feet, so the eye area is definitely something I’ve been concentrating on.”

Missha Super Aqua Ultra Water-Full Clear Cream

“Now that we’re getting into mid-spring to summer, I’m looking into more lightweight moisturizers. This is the moisturizer that I’ve been using regularly. I love it because it’s so hydrating and lightweight. It has a ton of hyaluronic acid and other amazing ingredients. It literally is a clear gel, and I only need a little bit at a time. It smells light and refreshing, kind of like the Missha Super Aqua Cell Renew Snail Cream.”

“I always apply my moisturizer very gently and spread upwards. Or, I just tap it in. This facialist in Korea told me that you really have to massage the side and the back of your neck and give that area a little pressure. This makes you look more lifted. It seriously works, so you should always include your neck when you’re doing your skin care.”

Neogen Day-Light Protection Sun Screen

“I currently use the Neogen Day-Light Protection Sun Screen, and my cushion/BB cream almost always has SPF 50. When I go jogging, I still use Neogen (because it’s SPF 50+).”
